Funding Need: $7,000
14 students are eligible for the $500 SGO Scholarship this year. This scholarship gives them access to the Indiana CHOICE Scholarship in future years without having to forfeit one year in Christian school. Update:  This need has been met!  THANK YOU!

FR Button SchImp finalFunding Need: $45,000
Your contribution to our annual School Improvement Drive fuels innovation and growth at Highland Christian School. This year we are looking to raise approximately $45K. These funds will be used to outfit (2) junior high classrooms with modular furnishings in keeping with 21st-century learning goals, provide continued professional development for our teachers and address needs related to out signage on Ridge Road.  To view the full appeal, click here.

Sustain Funding Need: $25,000
It is imperative that we develop and maintain a competitive edge in standards based education while being wise stewards of our financial resources. The Foundation Fund reduces tuition costs for parents and provides financial stability for our school.

Hope Funding Need: $20,000
We appreciate the opportunity to encourage families who fall on hard times, yet seek to be responsible with their tuition obligation. For families who don’t qualify for state aid, these board-designated funds are a lifeline!

Auction Funding Need: $100,000
Each year, approximately $100K of expenses are covered by income from our annual Auction event. We appreciate the generosity of our enthusiastic community who makes this possible!

PTO Funding Need: $10,000
When you participate in PTO sponsored fundraising events, you are investing in strong Home-School relations.

Wish ListFunding Need:  Variable
Wishlist items are items that are not planned for in the annual budget – but are “wishes” that benefit the learning experience in classrooms or meet other special school-wide needs.

School Grades are Official – We got an “A”!

Make some noise for your favorite HCS students and teachers! Their hard work is paying off and this success- as measured by the Indiana Department of Education- is worthy of a celebration! Way to go!

Thanksgiving is almost here!

As we enter the Thanksgiving season, we at Highland Christian School encourage all to take time from our busy schedules and reflect upon the many wonderful blessings God has given to us again this year.  God has blessed us richly.  As a Christian school and community we offer you an opportunity to share these blessings in a spirit of thankfulness.

Print the list of items that are needed here.

Beginning Monday, November 12, we will be collecting contributions of food items and toiletries for Roseland Christian Ministries.  To be more efficient and better equipped to serve, here is a list of what items are needed:

  • box of stuffing
  • cranberry sauce
  • 2 boxes of mac and cheese
  • can of gravy
  • can of green beans
  • can of corn
  • canned sweet potatoes
  • box of mashed potatoes
  • cake or brownie mix
  • toothpaste
  • soap
  • deodorant
  • shampoo
  • tissues

Highland Christian School students will be putting these care packages together.  Roseland Christian Ministries adds a chicken and some produce to the packages when they deliver them to families in need.  Many families will be touched by God’s love as they receive these provisions and hear the news of salvation for the first time.  This truly is a worthy endeavor and gives glory to God.

We invite you to join us along with our guests from Roseland on Wednesday, November 21 for a time of worship and sharing during our special Thanksgiving Chapel.  Chapel begins at 8:45 am.

“Run YOUR Race”
Hebrews 12:1

FROM THE PRINCIPAL’S DESK
Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to Second Quarter!  I told the students this morning that this is a great quarter to make progress in before we meet the challenges of Third Quarter – cold, dreary days with summer a long way off can make it challenging for students to do their best.  But I Continue reading Parent Note – October 29, 2018

School Improvement Appeal 2018

While our State grade is still embargoed, we have much to celebrate at Highland Christian School! We are beginning to reap the rewards of our labor and thank you for your generosity as we continue to adapt our learning environments. We can already observe a continued pattern of growth and high student achievement.

We know that this growth is in direct relationship to three key changes that have already occurred as we position Highland Christian School for a vibrant future. The first change was a cultural shift as we adopted the practices and mindset of a Professional Learning Community where the fundamental purpose of the school is learning for all at high levels. The second involved a decision to focus on STEM as a foundation for student success. Through the Project Lead the Way engineering curriculum, our students are developing the critical thought and problem solving skills that will be required of them in high school and beyond. The third change was in regard to technology. Our 1:1 Technology program put a device in the hands of every student.

The focus of this year’s School Improvement Appeal is to continue this forward momentum. Funds raised through this appeal will allow us to:

• Equip (2) classrooms with moveable, transitional furnishings that support collaboration in learning. In a blended learning environment, students shift from whole class instruction to small groups and to solitary work- all made possible with moveable furniture.
• Provide continued professional development for our teachers.
• Address signage on Ridge Road. Currently, we need to relocate the brick memorial sign and repair or replace the electronic marquee.

The estimated total cost of these projects is $44K. We appreciate your consideration of these needs. If you choose to give, you may return your check by mail in the enclosed envelope, or give online.  Thank you for being part of the community that makes Highland Christian strong!
