Professional Learning Community
Highland Christian School follows the mindset, practices, and framework of a Professional Learning Community (PLC). As outlined by DuFour, et al. in Learning By Doing, the three big ideas of a PLC are learning, collaboration, and results. These three ideas focus all of our efforts on the student.
In addition to these three big ideas are four questions:
- What do we expect our students to learn? (Standards/Desired Outcomes)
- How will we know when they are learning? (Data/Evidence)
- How will we respond when they don’t learn? (Intervention)
- How will we respond when they already know it? (Accelerate)
