This weekend was one for the record books! Outside of beautiful weather, the HCS Auction returned to the HCS gym for the first time since 2019! Although the auction smashed all previous fundraising records, (with over $130,000 raised), the biggest win was the amazing Christian community we were able to experience. God has truly blessed our community with alumni, grandparents, parents, and supporters who truly believe in our treasured mission to academically equip, biblically ground, and spiritually nurture to impact the world for Christ! THANK YOU to the many individuals who made this event possible – special thanks to Henry Groot, JJ Wognum, and the entire Auction Committee!

While the Auction is now behind us, we have much to look forward to with the HCS Society Meeting occurring next week Monday, May 2. Starting in the gym at 7pm, a presentation will be given regarding school advancements, worship led by 4th and 5th grade students, and the opportunity to vote on the west expansion project. We’re looking forward to seeing you soon!

1. The Highland Christian School Annual Society Meeting is next Monday, May 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the school gym.  On the agenda will be the approval of three school board members: Shawn Evers, Jennifer Neibert, and Karen Sherwood, and the approval of the 2022/2023 Budget and the Expansion Plan.  The Society Meeting Agenda is available at and printed copies of the agenda and absentee ballots are available in the school office.
2. Highland Christian School would like to show our gratitude to the Highland Police Department for the work and sacrifice they make to keep this town safe. We will be collecting change through Friday to buy them a small gift that they can use at the station to show our appreciation. We will make cards at school and then take a few students to the police station to present the gift and cards to the police officers. We hope everyone will be a part of celebrating our Highland Police Department

1. This year the Jr High Drama Department is proud to present, “High School Musical Jr” May 5th and 6th.  Thursday’s performance is at 7pm and tickets will be available at the door at 6:30pm when the doors open.  Tickets to Thursday’s performance are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children under 16. Tickets for Friday night’s High School Dinner Experience are on sale NOW. Tickets are $12.00 per seat and include a meal in the East High School Cafeteria and the Show.  You may buy these tickets at the front office starting today! Friday night general admission tickets will be on sale when the doors open at 6:45 on the evening of the performance.  Join our students as they spend a week navigating the choice of following the status quo or following their own dreams.

1. This Wednesday, April 27th, is Administrative Professionals Day! Please join us in showing appreciation to all our Administrators – Ann Lynch, Lisa Long, Kristy Tebben, Roberta Huitsing, Jody Moes, Jodi Lineburg, Jessica Hiskes and April VanderMeyden! We hope you will take a moment to drop them a note and let them know they are all appreciated!
2. Sunday, May 1st, is School Principal Day! Please join us in showing appreciation to our principal, Mr. Weener! We hope you take a moment to drop him a note and let him know he is appreciated!
3. Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6). There will be a flyer coming home with students later this week with ways we can show extra gratitude to our teachers during this special week.
4. Date Change: Donuts for Dudes, which is an event where students bring their favorite dudes before school to enjoy a donut, was schedule to take place on May 18th, but it will now take place on May 11th. Please mark your calendars!

1. Reminder!  There is still one more week left in our donation drive.  Bring your gently used donations to the classroom, the etc trailer located in the school parking lot or directly to etc.  Any items are accepted but things most needed are housewares (utensils, dishes, pots and pans, home decor, picture frames), small electronics, books and craft items.  Thank you!

1. Friday, April 29 – Track Meet @ Illiana Christian High School – 4:30 start

1. ThankScriping Day is coming up this week on April 28 & 29 for escrip and reloaded gift cards.  Look for extra bonus rebates on those days.  Contact the TRIP office if you would like to be signed up for online ordering with the RaiseRight mobile app.
2. Cash & Carry Gift Cards and Zandstra’s Greenhouse gift certificates are available to purchase.  If you would like to purchase cards out of the TRIP office contact Ann Lynch at 219-838-0356, ext. 199 or by email at Please note:  If you order these certificates online or on our weekly paper order form you will not be able to receive your certificates until the Tuesday after you place the order.
3. TRIP orders are due for physical cards (paper and online) on Thurs., Apr. 28th by 10 a.m.  The TRIP program will be accepting physical gift card orders on May 12, 19, 26, June 2 and 9.
4. Team B (Amy Jellema, Olivia Ridder, Jamie Paul) will be putting the TRIP orders together on Tues., Apr. 26th.  Orders will be ready for pick up in the school office on Tuesday by 2:45 p.m.

1. Illiana Christian Jr. High Girl’s Summer Golf Camp – Girls’ entering 6th, 7th, and 8th next school year are invited to participate.  This camp will be led by the IC girls’ golf coaches and will focus on the fundamental skills of the game of golf.  Putting, range works with different clubs, chipping, and course play.  Camp will be held at Palmira Golf Course, Illiana’s home course, on Mondays from 1-3pm starting Monday, June 6th and ending Monday, July 25th.  The camp fee is $175, which includes a camp t-shirt.  To register, please email Coach Suzanne Jonkman
2. Illiana Christian HS Girls’ Golf Team Summer Conditioning – Open to 8th girls enrolled at Illiana Christian and interested in trying out for the golf team.  Our summer conditioning schedule includes Mondays at 3:30 pm golfing as many holes till dusk on our home course at Palmira AND golf lessons with an amazing golf pro at Briar Ridge for a couple of afternoon hours. The day of the week for golf lessons may vary, due to the golf pro’s tournament schedule.  Summer conditioning begins the week of June 6th and will run through the end of July, close to 8 weeks.
