Parent Note – February 3, 2020

PARENT NOTE – February 3, 2020
“Blazin’ God’s Light”
Matthew 5: 15,16

Over the weekend, many of you watched the Kansas City Chiefs come from behind to beat the San Francisco 49ers in a major comeback. At the conclusion of the game, FOX reporters spent time asking players if they were nervous when they were down by ten points in the final minutes. Each player responded by saying they trusted their coaching staff, the plan, and their history of success.
We work for the same confidence with our “team” at Highland Christian School. We know we have a clear plan for the success of our “game”. Our teachers ask and live by the 4 Questions of Rick DuFour:
1. What do we expect our students to learn?
2. How will we know they are learning?
3. How will we respond when they don’t learn?
4. How will we respond if they already know it?
Using these questions, we support each child’s individual learning needs while infusing our faith into the tapestry of education. At Highland Christian, a defined course has been set to help the students learn about God’s world and His Kingdom!
Part of this course is celebrating our diversity! This month, we are excited to celebrate Black History Month at Highland Christian. As we celebrate our diversity, students will experience a number of opportunities to learn more about our past and inform our bright future! A special thank you to the teachers who are making this a priority in their classrooms and Mrs. Zandstra (librarian) for highlighting Black History Month around HCS! Go Huskies!
