Chapel

As part of our dedication to providing Christ-centered education at Highland Christian School, we have a time set aside each week to gather the junior high together to lift our praises to God, and invite pastors, youth pastors, and other speakers to come and encourage the students through a brief message.  Every Thursday morning we gather in the gym and are lead in worship through song and guest speakers.  This time is meant to praise God and remind our students of the importance of corporal worship together as a community of believers.

Our theme for Chapel this year is based on our school theme, "But eagerly desire the greater gifts.  And now I will show you the most excellent way" which is found in 1 Corinthians 12:31.  For Chapel, we have widened the scope of the passage and include 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:12, as well as the Beatitutes found in Matthew 5:3-16.  Each week speakers are invited to come and share their teachings based on part or all of these passages.

Through out the year we will be visiting these passages together and encouraging each other in faith.  Please, feel free to join us during this time- parents and guests are all welcome to attend our Chapels as well!

Back on October 29, we had Ed and Jane Skowron visit us for chapel, as missionaries in Panama, they had a lot to share.  One of the ways they shared was through a puppet show!  The primary and elementary grades joined us, and had a ton of fun!  We learned about the culture and people of Panama, and also the importance of following God's call in our lives to help those around us, or those around the world!

Mr. Skowron invited a couple students up to show everyone how the people of Panama dress.

The chapel committee helps out a lot!  they come early every week and help set up and take down everything we need for chapel, they open us in prayer, lead in singing, and introduce the speaker each week.  here they are intently listening to the speaker's message.
