100th Anniversary Celebration

Celebrating 100 years of God's FaithfulnessI

The 100th Anniversary Commemorative Book is now on sale in the school office for $14.  This book begins with HCS's history written creatively in a narrative form by Mrs. Julie DeYoung, class of '86, former HCS teacher, and wife of janitor Glenn DeYoung.  Historical pictures are interspersed between lists of all HCS graduates, followed by pictures of the students from the 100th year (08-09).  It's a great reminder of the rich history of Highland Christian School!

Also introduced at the Celebration Dinner are HCS 100th Anniversary Wooden Cutting Boards which feature an engraved HCS logo and theme verse.  The Boards come in 3 sizes and are available for order in the office. The 100th Anniversary Celebration Calendar for the '09-'10 School Year is also on sale for $5.  This calendar features our current students and includes the dates of Anniversary Celebration Events, sporting and concert events, vacation and short days.

The Heritage Room is now open with historical pictures and displays.  This room is located to the right of our "100" Picture in the main hallway display case.  Stop in the office to visit at your convenience.  The Heritage Room will also be open during Grandparent's Day and the Husky Homecoming.

We'll celebrate throughout the year with these special events!

Highland Christian Huskies Know How to Celebrate!

Our Centennial Dinner Celebration was a night to be remembered!  As family and friends gathered to commemorate our heritage and the tremendous blessings we share through Highland Christian School, each generation shared stories that resounded with praise to our living God.  As I listened, I remembered these stanzas in Longfellow's poem, "A Psalm of Life"

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
        Is our destined end or way ;
But to act, that each to-morrow
        Find us farther than to-day

Lives of great men all remind us
        We can make our lives sublime,
    And, departing, leave behind us
        Footprints on the sands of time ;

Let us, then, be up and doing,
        With a heart for any fate ;
    Still achieving, still pursuing,
        Learn to labor and to wait.
